Printer feed and browser scaling can move otherwise correct layouts. Calibration saves a global X/Y correction for the selected printer profile.
Use sample or masked information while testing. Verify the physical output before issuing any cheque.
- 1STEP 1
Use the correct print settings
Open calibration and print the test sheet on plain A4 paper.
- Set scale to Actual size or 100%.
- Disable Fit to page, headers, footers and extra margins.
- 2STEP 2
Measure the direction
Overlay the test sheet on the cheque and identify how the output must move.
- Negative horizontal values move left; positive values move right.
- Negative vertical values move up; positive values move down.
- 3STEP 3
Adjust in small increments
Change one axis at a time, normally by 0.5 mm, save and print another test.
- Avoid large changes unless you measured them.
- Keep the cheque layout unchanged while testing the printer offset.
- 4STEP 4
Verify a real leaf carefully
After the grid aligns, print one sample cheque and inspect every field.
- Confirm the MICR band remains untouched.
- Repeat calibration when the printer or feed tray changes.
Final checklist
Confirm these items before you finish.
- Actual size or 100% is selected
- Fit to page is off
- Correct paper source and orientation are selected
- X and Y offsets were tested independently
Questions about this guide
Why did changing the offset appear to do nothing?
Confirm you saved the profile, are using the same default printer profile, and printed through the cheque print screen at 100% scale.
Should I move fields in the designer instead?
Use calibration when the entire print is shifted. Move an individual designer field only when that field alone is misplaced.
